Humanitarian crises, war-zones, complex emergencies and disaster-affected areas are all in a day’s work for local Canberra systems engineering company ECLIPS.
ECLIPS, formerly ‘Sea Box International’, supplies modular products and engineering services across Australia and the world for a broad range of uses. The company was established a decade ago and now supplies to clients ranging from defence, emergency and corrective services, to the resources sector.
Army veteran and entrepreneur Shaun Moore is the ECLIPS founder and says clients rely on its quality assured engineered solutions to provide safe, secure and sanitary structures and shelters as well as innovative logistics platforms. ”
Our uniquely Australian engineering capability has allowed us to develop innovative logistics platforms which we are exporting to the world,” he says. “This includes a unique Container Roll Out Warehousing System (CROWSTM) and a Pipe Intermodal Logistics System (PILSTM), both of which are Australian designed and easily deployed anywhere around the globe.”
“It’s not unusual for us to engineer a product in Australia, build it in China and ship it to its final destination in Europe,” he says. “Recently we designed a series of modules right here in Canberra–some for the Gorgon LNG project which were used in Western Australia, and others which went to Papua New Guinea via Italy for a major gas line project.”
Prior to launching ECLIPS, Shaun was the Project Manager for a large bi-lateral defence infrastructure/simulation project as well as having completed a 22-year military career where he saw active service in Somalia and twice in East Timor. He has also represented Australia during training activities in Malaysia, Hawaii, and India.
During Shaun’s tenure leading ECLIPS, he has directed the delivery of successful ECLIPS projects, to the estimated value of over $140 million, as well as driving significant company capability development to the extent where ECLIPS is now delivering major complex projects to the Military, Logistics and Resources sectors.
He says a key reason for the name change from Sea Box International to ECLIPS was to reflect the company’s broadened scope since it first began trading. “Early on, our focus was modifying shipping containers for field requirements. We now design and produce container-based platforms and modular solutions for far wider purposes and solutions.”
ECLIPS has developed a unique and smart Australian engineering capability that is export focused. “The solutions are innovative, cost-effective and revolutionising the logistics industry, similar to the way containers did 60 years ago.”
Shaun says that a system engineering approach is taken for every project in order to deliver the highest quality, most cost-efficient, and rapid solutions.
“Our flexibility and innovation is unlimited”, he says. “We can create and deliver everything from logistics platforms and commercial kitchens to military command posts in a war zone, temporary accommodation and medical facilities, laundries and ablution blocks, stadium seating, even hazardous waste storage and site offices for industries.”
