After graduating from the Australian National University, the big city lights of Sydney briefly attracted keen young lawyer Archie Tsirimokos, but it wasn’t long before he decided to remain in Canberra where he raised a family and cemented himself as one of the region’s leading commercial lawyers.
Archie started out as an articled clerk with Vandenberg Reid, before working his way up to partner and eventually driving the merger with Meyer Clapham in 2005.
Now the chair of Meyer Vandenberg Lawyers, he specialises in commercial law, property development and building and construction law and has been involved in the delivery of many complex commercial projects throughout Canberra.
Archie says he loves his job, the people he works with and the city of Canberra, which he is passionate about making a better place for everyone to prosper.
As chair of the Canberra Business Chamber, Archie says he has come to better understand “how the town ticks”.
“Business is integral to how a city operates, and by being part of the chamber I can help make this city better,” he says.

“It’s easy to sit on the sidelines, but if you want to make things happen, you’ve got to get involved.”
Archie is also a director of Lifeline Canberra, an organisation he is proud to support by giving his time, contributing his legal skills and using his extensive business networks to increase awareness.
“It’s great to be able to help those people in our community, like most communities, who are going through a difficult time,” he says.
He is also the chair of Kulture Break, a not-for-profit creative arts and support group that provides early intervention programs to enhance youth empowerment, belonging, inclusion, identity, confidence and self-expression.
“Kulture Break helps get kids back on track,” says Archie. “It gives them purpose, somewhere to go and something to do. It’s much more than just a dance group.”
Archie says he is “very passionate” about both charity groups and the tireless work carried out by their respective volunteers.
“I look at the people involved with these organisations and I’m just amazed by what they do,” he says. “They are making a difference to people’s lives.”
Meyer Vandenberg Lawyers is involved in the Canberra community on many levels and Archie says his company prides itself on “going above and beyond the call of legal guidance”.
He is responsible for ensuring the provision of consistently high-quality advice throughout the practice and believes that an understanding of what clients want is critical to achieving excellence, whether the client is an individual or a large corporation.
His application of this approach has gained him far-reaching respect among his peers, and has enabled a loyal client base that includes some of the ACT’s largest corporate developers, investors and businesses.
It has also gained Meyer Vandenberg a place on Doyles’ list of leading Canberra Property & Real Estate Law Firms for 2021.
Doyles has also ranked Archie as a leading Property & Real Estate Lawyer in the ACT for the past six years, a gong he says comes down to working with a great team.
“I’m very proud to get the recognition, but you don’t get the accolades without having a good team around you,” he says.
“I work with some great people and this is a reflection of that.”
Archie has appeared as counsel in the ACT Supreme Court and the Federal Court of Australia, and in 2014 he was announced as Property Council ACT’s Property Professional of the Year.
In 2016, he was inducted into the Real Estate Institute of ACT Hall of Fame, and was named the institute’s Solicitor of the Year in 2013, 2014 and 2015.
Archie has built rapport with key government contacts, industry associations, influencers and stakeholders in the property and construction sectors, and has been instrumental in the development of numerous projects in the Canberra region.
He has two adult children: a son who is also a lawyer, and a daughter who has recently completed an arts degree.
Archie enjoys spending time with friends, as well as playing golf, working out in the gym and taking time out to savour the flavours on offer at some of Canberra’s finest restaurants.
