2017 Festival Launch
National Museum of Australia, Lawson Crescent, Acton Penninsula, 2601
Tuesday, 14 February 5:30pm
Join us for our 2017 official Festival launch – have a drink, listen to some music, meet the Festival team, and most importantly, get the inside scoop on the full 2017 Festival Program from Roland Peelman, our Artistic Director. Roland will tell you more about our intriguing Revolution theme, introduce our headline artists – some of them beloved Australian all star performers and others appearing for the first time in Australia – and tell you about the involvement of many young people and local artists in this year’s edition.
This year’s launch also celebrates a unique collaboration between the Canberra International Music Festival and the National Museum of Australia. Our special 2017 “Harvest of Endurance” event (Concert 14) will feature the eponymous 50-metre scroll, held by the NMA since 1992. Its 18 panels depict survival and resourcefulness across two centuries of Chinese settlement in Australia. Discover more about about this unique event with our special guest, narrator William Yang.
Light refreshments will be provided.
Dress: Smart Casual.
Tickets are free, but capacity is limited. Please register your attendance here.
